Buying repossessed property
Buying a house at auction that has been repossessed can be a great way to build
up a portfolio of houses. Over tens of years property will always go up and be a good hedge
against inflation. The UK is a great place to invest due to the strong demand in the rental market.
Repossessed houses are sometimes available to buy from specialist websites that can be free or
based on a monthly subscription; it’s not easy to get repossession properties direct from a bank. Some of the for
sale prices can be up to 20% less than normal open market value. Be careful when buying a repossessed flat as there
can be problems related to the
freeholder and lease agreements. Buying a repossessed house that
is a freehold can represent much less risk. It is the case that the properties that are much higher risk offer the
most value in the UK repossession market.
